Q: Are the appointments conducted in person or remotely?
A: All counseling is currently being conducted remotely via a video portal.
Q: Is the video portal secure and confidential?
A: Absolutely. I use a telehealth portal called Therapy Notes (TN). This technology satisfies the requirements outlined in the HIPAA Privacy Rule and HIPAA Security Rule, features strong SSL encryption, and uses a SAS 70 Type II audited data center that ensures the security of TN's infrastructure, data storage, and data processing.
Q: Is this through the VA?
A: No. At CMC I am working as an independent practitioner licensed in the state of Pennsylvania and with an APIT license that allows me to provides services to people in other states (see "Access across states" page). However, if you would rather connect to VA for treatment instead, I would be happy to advise you on how to do that.
Q: What is the fee for an appointment?
A: Fee structure will be discussed during a free and confidential phone consultation but typically ranges between $150-$200 per hour-long appointment. We can discuss a sliding scale depending on your income. Rate is reduced further for American Alpine Club's Climber Grief Fund participants.
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: At this time I do not take insurance.
